Remember When Palin Was Not "Qualified?"

...because she was the mayor of the town Obama referred to as "Wasilly?" Of course she was governor, but the D's talking points dictated that they downplay her experience and forget to mention the rest of her resume. So, here's a question, now that the Anchorage mayor has been chosen to take over for Senator Ted Stevens, have there been any insinuations that he isn't qualified?

33 comments:

  1. 1. Stevens is a convicted felon.

    2. As a Senator representing Alaska, a mayor of a city (of any size) in that state understands what life is like in the region and can attempt to act in that region's best interests.

    3. As the Vice President of the *entire country*, Palin might have been in over her head if she expected to use small-town Wasilla-style politics to represent or act in the best interests of 300+ million people.

As far as a comment you made in another post about Democrats "fearing" Palin, as an Obama supporter I tell you this: Palin in 2012 is the surest way to get Obama re-elected. She strikes not an ounce of fear into my heart. In fact, she is the gift that keeps on giving.

Might she be qualified someday? Sure. Absolutely. The Sarah Palin we came to know over the past couple of months won't cut it, though.

  2. uh,
    For senator or president?

    What is the point here.

I am curious what you think the qualifications should be for Senator.
    ReplyDelete
  3. Apparently the qualifications to be Senator, as well as President, are very minimal. All one needs do is look at the career of Obama. 8 years as a State Senator of Illinois voting "present", not yea or nay, on 94 different issues, 4 years as U.S. Senator, two of which were spent running for President.

And yet libs like iknow and the others continue to say that Palin is not qualified for either Vice-President OR U.S. Senator. But they also say that Obama is supremely qualified to be President.

Therein lies the epitome of a double-standard as well as extremely overt hypocrisy.

I trust The B-HO about as far as I can throw a Black Angus bull by the butt. e will screw up this country so badly that it will take years to repair, regardless of who gets in in 2012.

Hide and watch. It will happen.

  4. Maybe one qualification should be the ability to hide bribe money better than in your freezer.

Maybe if he had once been the Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan he too would be revered and qualified.

Another qualification could be to have a room mate run a homosexual prostitution ring out of your apartment, without your knowledge, of course.

If he were a strong swimmer, he too could swim away from an overturned car leaving a young lady behind to drown.

Those seem to be the prominent qualifications to ensure long Senate and House terms.

  5. Obfuscation! Obfuscation!

This thread is about Palin and Stevens, not about Democrat scandals.

    ...

Seriously, Lew, conversations with you always seem to devolve into the checklist above (or one just like it), despite the fact that I could easily start listing scandals in the Republican party. Yes, there are Democrats with unsavory histories. Equally, there are also Republicans with unsavory histories.

We could list them over and over in every thread, but it gets us nowhere.

It answers no questions, and does not get to the heart of the question at hand in this particular case: What about Sarah Palin?

Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy have NOTHING to do with Sarah Palin. They are utterly irrelevant to this topic.

The bottom line is that the majority of voters decided that Obama *was* qualified.

The majority of Alaskan voters in this case also decided that Mayor Begich was qualified.

    That's democracy.

  6. iknow, I have no problem with the new Senator from Alaska, nor with the governor of Alaska.

But, as I understand it, the point is that you all made such a bitter point of Sarah Palin being unqualified for VP, after being both a Mayor and a Governor, but see Obamessiah as qualified for President due to being a state Senator and Community Agitator.

Where is the balance in qualifications?

As for lists being posted, you really ought to look back at your own.

BTW, the majority of voters decided twice that Bush was "qualified" too. For some odd reason, that wasn't Democracy, according to Obamorons.

Just remember, you guys set the tone.
    ReplyDelete
  7. First, my list is not one of Republican scandals, but one of points pertaining to why Begich was victorious in Alaska despite the "hypocritical qualification" issues versus Palin's defeat as a VP candidate. Point #1 happens by coincidence to be a scandal, but my point clearly was not to say "look at all those nasty Republicans!"

Second, voters only decided ONCE that Bush was to be President. He lost the 2000 popular vote, but won the Electoral College. I know you know that, but I wanted to point it out just the same.
    ReplyDelete
  8. Maybe its time to send some of the Conservative media to Alaska to look under every rock for dirt on the Temporary Senator from Alaska.
    ReplyDelete
  9. iknow, you really should learn about the electoral college. As it has been set up, Bus hlegally won the popular vote in Florida, but lost it in the heaviest populated states.

That is why we have an electoral college. Otherwise, states with the most population would decide everything leaving smaller states with little or no word.

The electoral college has no partisan affiliation.

As to your lists, you and your cronies are infamous for highjacking posts here by posting lists contrary to the subject and diverting attention.

I just played follow the leader.

    You guys set the tone.

  10. I am still curious, what the qualifications for Senator should be, since it has been suggested that the qualifications should be questioned.

Can I please get a serious answer.
This does not mean I want to hear about other people, who are believed to have been elected by dubious means, or while less then qualified.

I want to know why someone feels the D's should be questioning Begich's qualifications; and what those who think they should be questions, think the qualifications should be.

I believe this is a reasonable question, based on the post.
    ReplyDelete
  11. I understand the role of the Electoral College and how it works. It doesn't make any difference here.

I'm also not going to argue whether or not GWB won Florida's popular vote, or "won" Florida's popular vote, or anything else. It's ancient history, and it also doesn't make any difference.

You either misspoke (a perfectly reasonable thing to admit to doing - I've done it a million times myself) or are unwilling to admit the fact that, on a national level, Al Gore did indeed win the popular vote (by approximately half a million votes), in direct contradiction to your statement that the "majority of voters decided twice" that Bush would be President. This is simply not true.

"I am still curious, what the qualifications for Senator should be, since it has been suggested that the qualifications should be questioned.

Can I please get a serious answer."

    The Constitution is clear,

"No person shall be a senator who shall not have attained to the age of thirty years, and been nine years a citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen."

Obviously, at least in one case, having been a "Community Organizer"(??), and occasionally showing up and voting "Present" in the State Legislature didn't hurt much either?!

  13. Does it really matter? Stevens and Palin were rejected. Obama and the Mayor of Anchorage were elected. Dems in Repubes out. Corruption and stupidity kicked to the curb. Plain and simple. Any questions?

Sarah Palin talks turkey during shocking video

One-time vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin pardoned a turkey for Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Then stood by as another was killed.

    Watch the Video

Oh Lord, is she a dim ball. I bet she does Victoria proud.
    ReplyDelete
  15. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, me.

You too fell for a set-up. Guess what, Obamoron, if you eat turkey, one dies.

Otherwise, the camera angle is obviously a set-up. The camerman/woman could have just as easily turned the camera to not catch that.

Bob Miller even admitted to that this morning after I emailed him.

Since Mrs. Palin is a country girl, killing an animal for food isn't unusual.

Let me guess, though. You don't eat slaughtered turkeys, you get yours at the supermarket, right?

Go wipe the egg off your face now.

MSNBC Turns Palin's Pardoning of Turkey Into Vehicle to Deride Her Over Slaughter in Background

Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

  18. Actually Blew, I don't eat Turkey, or any animal. I am a vegan. Wipe the egg off your face now. Not every person on this planet eats meat. Just like every person on this planet doesn't believe in the words of YOUR diety of the day. Nice try though, old man. But really keep defending your beauty clown, it is funny.

  19. One more thing, I love how you quote "News Flusters". They can't seem to get that only the few right-wing bozos left in the U.S. read their site, which is why their ratings are far below Huffington Post. But please keep quoting half rate commentators like Bobblehead Miller and New Flusters, it shows just how out of touch you are.

So God's cool with cannibalism and marijuana use, then? News to me!

  21. You want to eat pot, go right ahead, doesn't bother me.

If you bothered to crack open a bible to read after Genesis 9:3 you'd find your answer on cannibalsim.

If you don't have one, I'm sure you can contact the nearest Jehovah's Witness or visit any motel.

me, does it escape you that vegetables are a living thing too?

But, if you really are a vegan, that explains a lot.

  22. Don't forget that one of our city's own said that TREES HAVE RIGHTS TO !!!!!
So if they have rights doesn't that mean that they are living things ? So you are eating a living thing there ME OR WHAT .

  23. To make the Obamorons happy, I propose the next Sarah Palin interview be conducted inside an abortion clinic.

They don't seem to be so squeamish over human babies being killed as they are over turkeys.

  25. For all you Palin bashing Obamorons, pages 22 & 23 from Dreams From My Father, 1996 by Barack Hussein Obama Jr.

WARNING: Grizzly and descriptive depiction of obtaining dinner. Read at your own risk.

    "“Don’t you think he’s a little young?”"

"Lolo shrugged and looked down at me. “The boy should know where his dinner is coming from. What do you think, Barry?” I looked at my mother, then turned back to face the man holding the chicken. Lolo nodded again, and I watched the man set the bird down, pinning it gently under one knee and pulling its neck out across a narrow gutter."

"For a moment the bird struggled, beating its wings hard against the ground, a few feathers dancing up with the wind. Then it grew completely still. The man pulled the blade across the bird’s neck in a single smooth motion. Blood shot out in a long, crimson ribbon. The man stood up, holding the bird far away from his body, and suddenly tossed it high into the air. It landed with a thud, then struggled to its feet, its head lolling grotesquely against its side, its legs pumping wildly in a wide, wobbly circle. I watched as the circle grew smaller, the blood trickling down to a gurgle, until finally the bird collapsed, lifeless on the grass."

"Lolo rubbed his hand across my head and told me and my mother to go wash up before dinner. The three of us ate quietly under a dim yellow bulb-chicken stew and rice, and then a dessert of red, hairy-skinned fruit so sweet at the center that only a stomachache could make me stop. Later, lying alone beneath a mosquito net canopy, I listened to the crickets chirp under the moonlight and remembered the last twitch of life that I’d witnessed a few hours before. I could barely believe my good fortune."

To bad there wasn't an NBC camera crew nearby to witness B HO's "GOOD FORTUNE."

  26. I have never before been so entertained by a vice-presidential candidate. I think that I speak for many Democrats when I say that we give thanks for her effect upon the election. Those who promoted her selection proved to be allies of the Democrats. The Democrats could not have done a better job of alienating the independents and some rational Republicans from the Republican ticket. I would urge all Palin supporters to continue with their efforts and financial support on her behalf. It will obviously be time and money well spent.
    ReplyDelete
  27. "rational Republican?"

    Does that mean, "liberal Republican?"

Or, as we refer to them, RINO's?

Does that mean a "conservative Democrat" is now "Irrational?"

  28. I liked the irony of having Turkey's slaughtered in the background (or being prepared for slaughter).
I think all Turkey Pardons should be done with this sort of back drop.

Anyway, still no one has told me what the D's should be questioning the qualifications of Begich, or stated which qualification he lacks.

"I liked the irony of having Turkey's slaughtered in the background (or being prepared for slaughter)."

Yes, those in government must protect us from reality?!

Yes, those in government must protect us form ourselves?!

You know, some of us like Governor Palin because she is refreshingly honest. She isn't pretentious, seeming to protect us from every eventuallity. She doesn't conduct everything in the back room or behind closed doors like the more seasoned Washington DC types. She doesn't stage events under false pretense.

    And your further point,

"Anyway, still no one has told me what the D's should be questioning the qualifications of Begich, or stated which qualification he lacks."

No, but the D's have been unmerciless in challenging everything involving Governor Palin, from her honesty about her newborn, to her clothing allowance, and have tried to destroy the rest of her family.

And where was your outrage over lack of fairness then??
    ReplyDelete
  30. Pete,
I am sure if you read through all of my posts, you will see that I expressed a definite distaste for the unfairness toward Palin.
I have not had actual "outrage" toward anything this petty on either side. My only outrage has been at the misrepresentation of less petty facts, presented in a way designed to intentionally mislead. And this outrage was never limited to one side.

I am still curious, what qualification Begich is supposed to have, for Senator, that he does not.

So many times, instead of arguing for a stance, people argue the "but look what they did".
    ReplyDelete
  31. Eileen

And perhaps the ultimate irony is that Begich won by such a small margin. Given the recent travails of Stevens, that margin may itself speak to the qualifications of that "small town" mayor Begich.

But then, I guess, Anchorage is somewhat bigger than "Wasilly"?!?
