The stakes for Nancy Pelosi are high. From Politico:
The climate change bill may be known as the 'Waxman-Markey' legislation. But Friday's expected vote is all on Speaker Nancy Pelosi – it may be the biggest test of her leadership as she tries to wrestle votes on a massive cap and trade bill from reticent moderates and farm state lawmakers. Insiders expect
it to pass – but not comfortably. And the moment politically vulnerable Democrats go home, they can be sure to face a barrage of attack ads about voting
for what Republicans have called a 'national energy tax.'
Rep Phil Gingrey, Republican,
"224 amendments and only one was made in order. This is the Pelosi Global Warming Tax."
Rep Sheila Jackson Lee, Democrat, TX, (rough)
"We have to get carbons [sic] out of the air. This bill will give Americans a higher standard of life."
Rep Mike Pence,
"Last night at 3:09 AM house democrats filed a 300 page amendment. What are they hiding? What are they hiding here? More corporate welfare? More deals for special interests? It's a travesty."
Republican Congressman says (rough quote), "Yeah, this is cap and trade alright. Cap American economy and trade American jobs."
Rep Kathy Castor, Democrat Fla wants to put a stop to "carbon pollution."
Rep Pete Sessions, Tx,
"This is an energy bill, alright. It's the turn out the lights on America bill."
"300 page amendment by Democrats at 3:09 AM and only 3 hours of debate."
Congresswoman Doris Matsui takes point for Democrats on their bill:
The US economy "will grow from $13 trillion to $22 trillion by 2030."
"This bill shows that America is back and we are ready to lead
again."
Objects to extending debate by even one minute. The largest tax increase in American history and there's only 3 hours of debate today.
Rep Jim McGovern says
global warming has caused "oceans [to] rise and [has] fundamentally changed the coastlines of some nations."Would someone please call his office and ask which nations he's referring to?
Rep Joe Barton says there are 400 pages of this bill that nobody has seen it

You bring up a good point Victoria...
The problem with the Stimulus, the Budget, the Cap and Trade, and the Health Care bills are.. The Representatives and Senators are not reading them.. Or Can't read them.
The president promised in the campaign that the American People should have at least five buisness days for any legislation so they have a chance to review the bills before the congress votes on them...
That promise has NEVER been followed.. most of the bills are being written while the discussion is taking place on the floor of the House and the Senate. This is inexcusable and dishonest to boot.
All the progressives and some of those who post on here like to bash Republicans.. but from what I have seen of the Democrats on Capital Hill or in our own state legislature are more dishonest.. and they do not CARE.
Rep Sheila Jackson Lee, Democrat, TX, (rough)

How do we stand to have a "higher standard of life" when we will be broke and cannot afford to heat our homes, drive our cars, cook food, on and on?
Whn do any of this democrat cabal explain just HOW we will have a "higher standard of life" with their raping us at every step?
