  3. In all fairness to the Republicans, they have been distracted. They are in the throes of deciding who they want to run for president: A Mr. 1% vulture capitalist who closes down companies, keeps his money in off-shore banks, and pays tax at a lower rate than the average wage-earner or Mr. Open Marriage, an ethically challenged influence peddler who was drummed out of Congress by his own party that also fined him to the tune of $ 300,000. It’s a difficult decision and Republicans need their full concentration

  4. Yep, Lew, 25 jobs bills, that create no jobs, buthave plenty of tax breaks and loopholes for the job (destroyers). Lower taxes some more Lew, Reagan proved deficts don't matter and lower taxes create jobs, "W" proved that too. It all comes true in GOP fantasyland, where creationism is real science and AGW a decades long world wide hoax. And that sums up the GOP mindset Lew, for you can't distinguish fact from fantasy.

    That's Portland Public Schools math, for 635 days of that period, the democrats had majorities in both houses of congress and the presidency. As for Nove 2010, to quote the president, "Elections have consequences". You ever wonder why when they had it all, the democrats didn't close all those tax loopholes, repeal the Bush tax cuts, eliminate all those subsidies to ship American job overseas, amnesty, repeal NAFTA, pass cap and trade, and all those other things you dream about?

    To be fair, it would be hard to match quality working class candidates like Al Gore, John Kerry, and John Edwards...or their marital ethics. How could you ever vote for a small time grifter like Romney when Kerry can pay 7.5% in income taxes on $7.5 million dollars for 2003. But you do have to factor in inflation. Not to mention accidentally parking his yacht in a neighboring state to avoid the $500,000.00 luxury tax.

    I'm sure income disparity is the new dinner topic at Martha's Vineyard and the Hamptons...not to mention when the glitteratti gather at the White House.

    Yeah you'd have to be crazy to reminisce about the Bush deficit of 600 million and that 5.4% average unemployment rate for 8 years.

  7. No Lew, the Dems are just as pathetic at improving the economy as the GOP. Both are obstructionist, chock full of liars and thieves, work almost exclusively on the behest of their campaign donors and care nothing for the people. The issue I have with you Lew, is you absolutely, truly believe the GOP does not do any of the above and the GOP is ALWAYS better than the Dems.

    And Mike, it is typical of lesser informed people to quote that umemployment rate average under "W" and use it to denigrate the Dems. However, a simple look at the economy during the fiscal reign of terror under "W" and the GOP shows another, completely different story. Unemployment rate January 2001=4.2%, and January 2009=7.8%. So your average of 5.4% is true, however, another true statement is the unemployment rate nearly DOUBLED under "W".

    And your statement about a 600M deficit if off by an order of magnitude, how about $600 BILLION, about 10% of which is still missing in the Iraq war of lies. Meanwhile the GOP complains about a measly $537million squandered at Solyndra. Much like when Reagan sent the IRS after waitresses for unreported cash tips while backing off millionaire tax cheats like Kerry and Romney.

    And people like Lew will step in and argue that the Dems screwed up an improving economy during the last two years of "W", and that too is pure poppycock. ANY policy changes are enacted by the executive branch, i.e. "W", all legislation MUST be signed by "W" too.

    And it's obvious to me, that the trend continued well in to BO's first 1-2 years and has now reversed very slightly. However, that doesn't mean anything he did was helpful. Longer term history will judge that. Just like the 30+ years of the voodoo economics of Reagan shows clearly that ever more wealth has shifted to fewer people than ever before, making the disparity of wealth here worse than Egypt. In essence GOP economic policy has made the USA a third world country. The GOP loves to point out the great economic growth in the past thirty years, unfortunately, nearly ALL that growth has been to the 0.1% of the population and the data from every source I've researched clearly shows the devastation caused to the 99% by the voodoo. Finally a few people are beginning to understand this and what do we get? A flock of morons in the Occu-Commie criminal set causing untold further damage to us and themselves.

    Lew => That is only your perception as you wish it to be. You ignore the numerous times I complain about a Republican to carry forth your misguided perception.

    HINT: We have done better when the GOP was in power, but they screwed up and acted more like Democrats and were kicked out.

    HINT: I'm conservative, even when I was a Democrat. I promote conservatism which is virtually non-existent in today's Democrat party.

    The middle class always does better when government backs off. Government promotes only more dependency requiring more confiscation of private wealth, only to dole out what they feel you should have, often much less than you had before.

    A lesson for you

    Middle class wages increase along with the wealth of the rich
