Oregon CD 1 Meet Your New Congressman

And to the Oregon Republican Party, the NRCC and the Oregon Tea Party: You've all just gone on record as writing off this Congressional District forever. Good luck trying to beat an INCUMBENT when SloBo seeks re election --even with new redistricting lines.

The people of the 1st CD--moderates and conservatives--you have just seen your representation get sold out; declared unworthy of support.

And a personal word to Suzanne Bonamici: You supported a man for years who predated upon women and you knew it. He is a man you called a friend and your husband served as consigliere. You supported his campaigns and covered up for him. And your SuperPac buddies in Emily's List, NARAL and Planned Parenthood--the women's movement--support you. The "women's movement" is deader than dead.

**And a late ad which was going to be left for a later post: Cornilles himself did not ask for help. He didn't ask the Oregon Republican Party for much help, didn't ask the NRCC for much help and certainly did everything to distance himself from the Tea Party. With that said, I still think the right should have fought for the seat.

  1. For all of the bellyaching, whining and sniffling about conservatives being in lock-step, more and more it is obvious that to liberals, all that matters if that 'D' behind the name.

  2. Hey Conservatives -- let's lose with a little class, eh? This incessant griping is so unseemly. People know whom they're voting for, and for the vast majority, vast, of people west of the Cascades, the GOP is insignificant -- and it's your own fault. You have so soiled your political brand, that most folks see it as simply the party of the far-right, obsessed with social issues (and on the wrong side of them) in a state that is center-left. Ask yourself why you cannot win a statewide election and no federal officers apart from Walden. And don't blame the voters.

Keep up the vitriol, and enjoy being irrelevant.

  3. Victoria,
Like they say "You can't fix stupid". When will they learn. Never seems to be the answer. I guess the people of the 1st CD enjoy a lack of leadership and plenty of drama. I make you a bet that Wu would win re-election if he were to run in the fall.

  7. If you don't like it you can always move yourselves to Georgia, Alabama or any other Republican owned State. If it were really that horrible living in Oregon you won't stay here.

  8. People talk about how the Southern states is nothing but a bunch of stupid Rednecks. After the last two elections. I can see Oregon has all of those states beat hands down.

  9. At least Cornilles will now have more time for job creating.

  10. The Tea-Party Ten might want to start dusting off their resumes.

  11. Hi guys,

There is a lot of truth in what James is saying. The voters of the 1st are more receptive to her message than hiss. Even had the republicans spent more, I doubt it would have made a difference.

What will make a difference is the changing environment in the district. Beaverton schools are facing a $40 million dollar short fall as there has been no economic growth in the metro area...according to the 2009 Oregon Blue Book, Oregon per caita income in 2009 is less than 2000...can't blame republicans for that or the 30% decline in resource jobs. Bonamici isn't going to be able to help that, but will spend magnitudes more to get light rail to Vancouver. Beaverton is going to have to man up (that's gender neutral by the way)and pay for what their values are, not ask others including the Red Chinese to pay for them. The cost of those progressive policies are coming due and there's no Oregon D that can break the mold and say no to all those they promised things too.

We'll see how much social policies matter when you need a job and you can thank democrats for limiting the number of jobs Intell can have in Washington County...or if they stay when their taxes go up to pay for the lack of economic activity, but you'll have free health care. Or your kid being in a classroom of 40 + children, a large number of them illegally there....but at least you'll have Cinco de Mayo. Or the state buying up "cheap" foreclosed homes in your neighborhood to provide half way houses and group homes for sex offenders and felons "social justice" demands being mainstreamed, but a small price to pay to protect a woman's right to choose. Or see your power bill "skyrocket" as the President desires to save fish and subsidize solar power at 6 times the market rate, but then you'll have "congestion pricing" to lower your driving bill.

Vern might be right too....Ron Wyden certainly decided to live somewhere else. I wonder why? Because Oregon leads the nation in "food insecurity"?

  12. Lew, the Dems have done it again, as would Cornilles and the GOP had he been elected. BOTH of them will be voting lock step with the party no matter what BS they give us.

And your BS about caring whether a "D" is behind the name applies exactly to the "R" behind the name too. That is called polarization Lew. And the only way out is to throw ALL incumbents out and invoke term limits. A perfect example of the polarization Lew comes from Romney after winning the "R" vote in Florida. What are his priorities? First, beat BO, then lead the Republicans, oh, and then lead the country. The priorities are backasswards Lew, and it goes for both parties.

You perpetuate this polarization time and again right here. For example, you deinigrated Geithner for not paying taxes, yet Cornilles was investigated and fined for not paying them, yet not a squawk from the GOP, it was deemed an accounting oversight, just like Geithner; but you fail to treat the two maggots the same way. That's polarization in a nutshell Lew, and you are part of that.

I on the other hand wouldn't vote for either of those two losers, Cornilles or Bonamici. The intelligent choice was ANYONE else. Maybe if enough people get fed up with this state of affairs, the incumbents will be out for good. Unfortunately Lew, the intelligence of the electorate is below the 6th grade level.

  13. Now look at Indiana Lew, where GOP religious nutcases passed a bill to allow teaching creationism as science in public school. That will cost the state taxpayers millions, use up valubale court time and personnel, and detract from real issues for the nonsense of GOP religious indoctrination. Don't ever state that it doesn't cause problems or costs anything. This insanity has to be stopped. And Conilles is NOT the one to do it either.
