| Lake Oswego Business Owner Lost Everything and Is Making a Comeback in Oregon |
I received this email last night about this local business owner:
This sign is in the window of a small computer repair shop in Lake Oswego. He lost everything during Hurricane Katrina, and ended up in Oregon with a small amount of money in his pocket. I spoke with him today and he said all it took was Obama's most recent lie "If you own a small business, you didn't build it yourself". He knew he had to take a stand. He has had people come in and tell him the sign is offensive and others tell him he will lose business. The sign has been up for 3 days now and business is up, people are stopping by to shake his hand and he is encouraged that he is not alone.Let's make sure that we help this business owner. We hope to talk to him on the air today. He's not alone.
President Obama is a thief. In addition to wanting to take more of the money you earned to give to someone who hasn't, he has also stolen so much more:
- Stolen the belief that individual hard work and industry should be rewarded.
- Stolen the self respect brought by work by paying able bodied people to stay out of job pool.
- Stolen the your accomplishment when he says somebody else did it.
- Stolen the basic belief that the individual is the center of our civic life, not government.

good for him! I cant believe people are so ignorant to not even accept the idea that Obama is doing something wrong. For some strange reason people in Portland cant fatham the thought that Obama isn't perfect...it's weird. But the truth speaks for itself!
ReplyDeleteI wish this guy the best in his business and I would shake his hand to for not shying away from the truth and speaking his mind, which people in Oregon seem to have a hard time doing.
Of course Obama's statement was taken completely out of context and if you listen to his entire statement it doesn't say that at all....but you folks don't really care about anything but a soundbite that sounds good in spite of the actually meaning.....unless of course it was one of your own being taken out of context...then it becomes a horrendous abomination!
ReplyDeleteSeriously? This is what's wrong with both sides. If you're readers, or worse yet, you, don't know that this was taken completely out of context then you're all beyond fools. Start bringing up legitimate issues and use reality as your basis. I don't see a single post yet regarding Romney's refusal to release his tax forms. Don't you think that is significant? How about his past stances on healthcare, abortion and a myriad of other things that he's now 'flip flopped' on. That was the rights condemnation of Kerry years ago. That he was a 'flip flopper', now apparently that is just fine with you. So I guess hypocrisy is fine if it's 'your guy' and not the 'other guy'.
ReplyDeleteAt least I know where not to take my computer for repair. Somebody cannot read in context.
ReplyDeleteSo what is the name of the business? The address? His name? If you're trying to support his business don't you think you'd publish that info for him? My guess, and its just a guess, that if we did any research we'd find that he received either an SBA loan, or he received FEMA disaster funds or he received a loan through the government as an individual affected by the Hurricane. Regardless, if he only had a small amount of money in his pocket there's no way he could have come up with the money required to lease the shop space (deposit, utility deposits, etc.) nor would a landlord likely rent to someone without any money. After opening a couple of businesses in Portland I can tell you that you need more than a little bit of money in your pocket. Insurance, licenses and above mentioned deposits can eat up thousands of dollars, even for the smallest business. Now there's a legitimate story you can pursue, the ridiculous cost and effort required to get a business started in Portland.
ReplyDeleteKevin Kerwin aka kevin the geek 393 State St in LO....give him a visit!
ReplyDeleteI like the name of his business! Clever.

Delete"Obama's statement was taken completely out of context"
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet." Taken out of context indeed???! "If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."
By the way, wasn't the real impetus that launched the Internet, the deregulation of Ma Bell? Oh of course that couldn't be possible since Reagan would have been responsible, depriving Gore of his claimed "legacy".
Of course Obama was taken out of context. He really never has been in context with the American people. Dated by Denver relics of Doric and Ionic columns providing the only visible support for Obama's proclaimed failed legacy to build or achieve anything remotely memorable.
If he was in really in context, he wouldn't have pushed OB Care in lieu of worsening economy and employment situation. He wouldn't have ignored reform of the housing finance industry for 3 and 1/2 years. He wouldn't be subsidizing bigger "Too Big To Fail" Banks all the while the proclaiming the "construction" of meaningful banking reform and the prevention of future massive bank failures under Dodd Frank.
Although one has to admit that he does have the ability to build a big war chest thanks to the Big Banks and Wall Street. A political war chest built based upon the Administrations assurance of prosperity of Wall Street, allowing them to handle the issuance of massive amounts of Administration's debt. A political war chest, that is perhaps the one and only successful construct of Obama's promised pledge of "hope" and "change".
