Wingard, Warfare and the Coming "Crap Storm" in House District 26

Let me stipulate that Republican State Representative Matt Wingard having consensual sex with his Legislative Assistant of legal age was a bad idea. It showed poor judgement. He was in a position of power, she was an underling. She flirted, he responded. He flirted, she responded. Rinse. Repeat.

Stop me if you've heard this already, but Wingard is paying for this transgression by agreeing not to run again for his House seat. He's been stripped of his leadership posts for the duration of his term. He's been busted down and his business is suffering for all the bad publicity. All this for dating his aide who was of legal age.

But that's not good enough for some of the folks who oppose Wingard. After acting as a source for the recent allegations against Wingard--which included fanciful tales of Wingard drugging his "victim" (allegations which have been recanted after the Representative threatened a defamation lawsuit.

See posts here and here), Washington County GOP Chair Rachel Lucas is at it again. Through her ally of the airwaves Bill Post, she has continued to plant rumors of more- to-come "crap storm" nameless allegations against Wingard. The rumor mongering has never resulted in any other further allegation against Wingard but the stain has remained. Offers to Post to tell me what he's got have resulted in,

"I am not hiding anything, just can't quite say what it is yet until the investigations are done..."
Glad we cleared that up.

And now Lucas and Post have started what is clearly a whispering campaign against a woman running to replace Wingard.

Lindsay Berschauer runs the politically potent Oregon Transformation Project and has in the past dated Wingard.  Berschauer has been key in the newest iteration of the Clackastani Rebellion. She has collected signatures for initiatives door to door and has been working the district even before becoming a candidate herself. But unfortunately, she dated a guy the Lucases don't like and they're trying to take her out and poison her name before the key vote among the House District 26 PCP's on Monday.

Post is fronting for the Lucases again, this time calling "all the PCP's" (according to a highly placed person involved) to ask them to vote for his/her candidate and, as an lovely parting gift, smearing Berschauer with gritty tales about her messy divorce.

The Mean Girls
I don't know anything about this stuff, but apparently every single Precinct Committee Person in House District 26 does. Classy.

I've got no dog in this race. I've got friends on both sides--heck I like the Lucases!-- but the Mean Girls antics are disgraceful.

If you have a vendetta against Matt Wingard for not signing your Family Council Pledge or how he somehow messed up the political trajectory of a family member, then just say so. This back biting whispering campaign isn't good politics and isn't very nice.

And to my commenters or readers who will now surreptitiously get in touch and tell they'll target me next, I already know. Let the crap storm begin.

  1. The HD26 "scandal".. the CD1 Special Congressional Race, Presently there is people over in Washington County area who are accussing the Tea Party as being Anti-Republican full of Ron Paul infiltrators..

I do not hate anyone over there myself.. but I have lost quite a bit of respect for many over there..

It's too bad people can not not bring themselves to respect others opinions or questioning of what a candidate is doing or saying.

Guess I will stay over here on the East Side of Portland area.. where I know the enemy is the Democrats and the Progressives...Not our own who are doing things in the open while crossing their fingers behind their backs.

  2. What does some legitimate concerns about the Tea Party and the CD-1 convention being hijacked by Libertarians and Paul supporters have to do with this self made mess? The Tea Party meeting Occupy multiple times across the country and bullying people while failing to support our primary winning candidates is a valid observation. The convention filled with recently elected pcps who are in reality Paul supporters but feigned support for Romney and Santorum to be elected as their delegates is a legitimate concern. You attack when you don't like the facts. That is your problem...Your losing respect for some who challenge your positions...is another.

  3. Tea Party? Did somebody say Tea Party? What the heck does the Tea Party have to do with the Lucas's vendetta, Bill Post aiding and abetting of the Lucas vendetta, the HD26 scandals, or the Ron Paul infiltrators at the CD1 Convention?

Wow...seems like I've heard those exact same talking points out of certain people before. And they are all, as usual, targeting a deseprately needed scapegoat. When will this uncontrollable lust for childishness cease?

Tea Party??? If only you could pin your own shortcomings on te Tea Party. That's not how the real world works. Get a grip, folks!

  4. Evidently the good people of HD 26 disagree. They would like to see a clean break from the past and move forward. I am very glad that I endorsed John Davis. I would also point out that: 1)I love the Lucas's but you overestimate my time spent with them. I haven't talked to them for about 2 weeks, and in fact if you've paid any attention at all, they had a wedding this past weekend (their daughter) that had them quite busy for the last 2 weeks and I am sure that "smearing" anyone was the last thing on their minds (oh and it wasn't Rachel Lucas "planting stories" I have my own sources, just as I'm sure you do, and they are very reliable, I just choose to use them when it's needed). 2) I didn't know Lindsay was divorced so that kinda makes it hard for me to have spoken about that, I do appreciate you helping me with that information. 3) I don't "front" for anybody, and I certainly don't call PCP's that aren't in my district, so can you tell me whom I called? 4) Who "opposes" Wingard? I don't know of anyone. I do know that there are many in the GOP that would like to see some elements of the party cleaned up so to speak, stand for strong morality and maybe look better than the Democrats in ALL ways, but "oppose" him? Not me. If only you knew how close we are. 5) I think it's nice that you've used a little ol' talk show host's name in Salem to help you with your much bigger show in Portland. Oh and I podcast all of my shows, you'll find I haven't talked about Wingard or this subject since the Monday after the WW story broke. Sorry to disappoint. Carry on. Oh by the way, John Davis won by a landslide in HD 26 convention....
