For the Children: Portland Public Schools Pimp Kids for New Buildings
This entire video is an argument for pretty buildings for children because, well, kids won't drop out, flat line on the SAT's, and other bad stuff if we have prettier buildings. Really. Watch it.
"We can't vote yet, so we can't make the difference"
"Not having perfect surroundings can be harmful to their education"
Schools are an important issue, it's too bad the education establishment can't be more forthcoming on how they have failed over the last generation. 30 years ago we were told the key to educational success was a well compensated teacher. So why are things worse now?
Any educator that claims to want kids to have all of the information they need to make sounds descisions can't be associated with this slickly produced bumper sticker.
To get MY attention in an advertisement for budget enhancement, the senior administrator ought to make the appearance.
No visual aids in the shot except for examples of what the subject is. No audio but the administrator explaining the status, history, and justification for the request.
The ad should end with his direct contact information.
These people make real money. They ought to have the guts to face us.
