Yeah and assuming I agreed with your premise that the Romney campaign has lacked specifics over the past four months, the difference is that Obama and his Administration have lacked specifics for nearly four years!
Speaking of specifics, let's take a look at the Salt Lake City Tribune endorsement:
"Through a pair of presidential debates, Romney’s domestic agenda remains bereft of detail and worthy of mistrust."
"Therefore, our endorsement must go to the incumbent, a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day. The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first."
Why did Mitt Romney embarrass himself on Libyathis last week’s debate? One possibility: Because he, and the Republican Party in general, have opened up an alarming policy deficit between themselves and Barack Obama and the Democrats.
Republicans and conservatives have, in case after case, simply given up on crafting viable public policy. That wasn’t always the case. When Ronald Reagan took office, conservative think tanks were ready with a host of ideas for transforming what government did and the way it did it. As recently as the 2000 campaign, George W. Bush campaigned on, for example, No Child Left Behind and a faith-based initiative. Does Romney have anything similar he’s talking about during this campaign?
I don't see how Romney embarrassed himself over Libya? Whose policy is it? The only one to embarrass himself was the President who urged Crowley to speak louder when she got it wrong. Has he or Hilary had a press conference to explain what happened? If Romney were wrong, then the truth would be obvious and stop him in his tracks.
The only real policy discussion that counts is getting the economy going. The Obama technique of massive spending and deficits has failed. Reducing the deficit is the primary policy that effects us the most. Even a big government guy like you has to realize that.
The President doesn't dare expound on his second term agenda because it is more economy crushing ideas like cap and trade and divisive issues like amnesty for illegal immigration. How the heck does the federal government grow the middle class? He's exhausted his ideas on reviving the economy and said it best that if he hadn't fixed it in three years, he didn't deserve a second term.
Nice of Obama to pause from character assassination long enough to finally issue a second term agenda. Yeah, a whole two weeks before the election. Some Chief Executive, but then I guess its foolish of me to anticipate anything better from someone who hasn't figured out what a budget is yet!
"One possibility: Because he, and the Republican Party in general, have opened up an alarming policy deficit between themselves and Barack Obama and the Democrats."
Nice of you to speak of deficits in the negative sense for a change. Perhaps you can put in a word to the current, soon to be past, President about the evil inherent in the policy of deficits!
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's an environmental thing and he doesn't want to waste the paper.
You know kind of like not issuing budgets for the past four years.
I agree With you,Nice Post.
