Victor Sharpe: The Sorry State Department

It should come as no surprise that the State Department has much to answer for in the abysmal manner in which it so disastrously allowed the horrific murder of the American Ambassador, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans by Muslims in Benghazi, Libya to occur. 

And who must bear full responsibility for not adequately protecting the hapless ambassador and his staff in Benghazi? Well, it has to be none other than Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, and appeaser to all and every tyrant and international thug in the world.

Her craven apologies to the ever hate filled and murderous Muslim world by blaming an amateurish video, purportedly the excuse for mass Islamic violence and killings, has been enough to make Neville Chamberlain look decidedly heroic and resolute. But then she takes her queue from her boss, the Appeaser and Apologist in Chief: Barack Hussein Obama.


We now know that the slaughter, using RPGs and incendiary devices, was a premeditated and well planned operation by Al Qaeda. Even the Libyan president has said so, yet Hillary Clinton and President Obama continue to falsely attribute the Arab bloodlust to the video. 

And the Secretary of State, a week before the atrocity took place, stated that the security measures in place at the Benghazi mission were “robust.”

The State Department has traditionally been a happy home for Arabists who have given the worst Arab regimes a pass and have always favored anti-Israel sentiments going back decades in contrast to most administrations, which have supported the Jewish State; that is until President Obama assumed office. 

It would be instructive to remember a previous brutal murder of another American ambassador almost 40 years earlier, which the State Department also failed to prevent and covered up.

Remember during Bill Clinton’s presidency how he had brought Israel’s Prime Minister Rabin together with the arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat in what became the infamous White House handshake. This has been a disastrous legacy for Clinton and a curse for the entire region.

It eventually led to Arafat’s baleful insertion by foolish Israeli leftwing leaders into the ancestral and biblical Jewish heartland of Judea and Samaria (known by its 19 year old Jordanian name, the West Bank) and the creation of an entity known as the Palestinian Authority.

From his Ramallah compound, north of Israel’s capital city, Jerusalem, Arafat proceeded to weave his web of hatred, violence and terror. But he had already committed a terrible crime against America, which was swept under the proverbial diplomatic table, and not admitted to by the State Department for seven administrations. 
 

On March 1st, 1973, eight Muslim Arabs stormed the Saudi Arabian embassy in Khartoum, Sudan and took the U.S Deputy Chief of Staff, George Curtis Moore, hostage along with the American ambassador, Cleo Noel and Guy Eid, the charge d’affaires at the Belgian embassy.

The Arab gang were Palestinians acting under the name Black September, a front group for Arafat’s PLO. They immediately issued demands, including the release of Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian Arab who murdered Robert Kennedy. To his credit, President Nixon rejected the PLO’s demands.

It is now known that it was Yasser Arafat himself who subsequently ordered the murder of George Curtis Moore, Cleo Noel and Guy Eid. The Black September thugs took their hostages to a room and fired their Kalashnikov automatic rifles into the diplomats in a frenzy of bullets.

Arafat then ordered his terrorists to surrender to the Sudanese authorities with the words:

“Your mission has ended. Explain your just cause to international opinion. We are with you on the same road.”

Later, Arafat stood at the United Nations podium with a gun at his side, accompanied to New York by Ali Hassan Salameh, the planner of the terror attack.

Writing in the Breitbart webpage of September 21st, 2012, Larry O’Connor stated that the Obama Administration and the Clinton State Department were warned about the attacks on the Benghazi mission and they should have seen it coming.

“When the armed terrorists stormed the mission in Benghazi, Ambassador Stevens was left virtually undefended and abandoned by this President on a day when all Americans are instinctively on their guard and prepared for a reprise of the horrific events from 2001. “The unspeakable horror that awaited Stevens and the three other Americans who relied on Obama and Clinton to protect them is now a matter of history, but the Obama White House continues to attempt to re-write that history with distractions and obfuscation.”

Similarly, the State Department forty years ago had received intercepted messages of an impending attack upon our diplomats in Khartoum and did nothing. They then employed for years the same obfuscations to hide what Yasser Arafat did in ordering the slaughter of our diplomats.

The State Department has indeed much to answer for.
